How It Works

JustRecordScreen uses the browser's native Screen Capture API (getDisplayMedia) and MediaRecorder API to record your screen directly in your browser. When you click "Start Recording", your browser asks permission to capture your screen. The recording is assembled locally on your device and never touches any server. When you're done, the file is available for immediate download.

Why We Built This

Most screen recording tools either require you to install software, create an account, or upload your recordings to their servers. Some add watermarks, impose time limits, or require paid subscriptions for basic features.

JustRecordScreen was built as part of the "Just*" network of privacy-first browser tools. We believe basic productivity tools should be free, private, and instant. Your screen recordings may contain sensitive information - passwords, personal messages, confidential work. They should never leave your device unless you choose to share them.
